When to Seek Emergency Dental Care

You should seek immediate dental attention if you experience any of the following:

• Knocked-Out Tooth: Time is critical. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, call us immediately—we can often save the tooth if treated within an hour.

Emergency First Aid Tips While You Are on Your Way

• For a Knocked-Out Tooth: Gently rinse the tooth with water (do not scrub the root). Try to place it back in the socket facing the right way. If that’s not possible, keep it moist by placing it in a cup of milk or holding it inside your cheek until you reach our office.
• For Severe Pain & Swelling: Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for 15-minute intervals to reduce swelling. Take over-the-counter pain relievers as directed, but do not place aspirin directly on the gums.
• For a Broken Tooth: Save any pieces of the tooth that you can find. Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area.
