Dental Technology

Dental technology has evolved dramatically in the last decade with exciting new services, such as dental implants and porcelain veneers, and, safer, less intimidating instruments and tools.
Dr. Hill, Dr. Sergeant, and Dr. Batchelor equip our practice with cutting-edge technology and training to provide you with optimal results and premium value in your dental care. Some of the tools we use at both practice locations are:

Air Abrasion – This is one of the most exciting technologies to hit dentistry since the high-speed drill. Our air abrasion units use pressurized air to remove decay from the surfaces of teeth. With air abrasion, we can often clean a patient’s teeth without anesthesia.

DIAGNOdent – This laser detects microscopic decay. When aimed at a suspected lesion, the DIAGNOdent locates the smallest cavities so we can treat them early.

Digital Imaging – With software programs like Image FX or Adobe Photoshop, we can manipulate digital photos of your smile to show you how a particular treatment, such as porcelain veneers, CEREC crowns, or bonding, would change your appearance.

Intraoral Camera – The intraoral camera takes pictures of the smallest parts inside your mouth so we can analyze trouble areas in a particular tooth.

Digital Cameras – Our Fujifilm S2 6.1 megapixel cameras have marco lenses and ring flash drives which allow us to immediately capture images and load them in the computer for analysis. We use images of your teeth in our digital imaging system and labs to create individualized dental plans and treatments.

Panoramic X-Ray Units – These panoramic units provide us with a comprehensive look at your mouth. We use high-speed X-ray film, which requires less radiation with than traditional X-rays. Patients with excellent oral health will need fewer radiographs than those with more complex conditions.

Doppler Auscultation – For patients suffering from TMJ disorder, the Doppler auscultation can detect and measure joint damage without an invasive procedure.

Onsite Laboratory (Cottage Grove) – Our Cottage Grove dental office has an onsite dental lab. Diagnostic wax-ups, bite modification, orthodontic movement, and other treatment modalities are performed in the lab. In addition to the model analysis, we can also fabricate TMJ

Infection Control Procedures and Technology –  Infection ControlAll of our rooms are thoroughly disinfected before your arrival. Our instruments are scrubbed ultrasonically, then sterilized in an autoclave, which is a large, pressurized steam oven. We will continue to update our protective methods and technology to provide a clean, safeenvironment for your dental care.

Treatment Rooms – Modern technology, like video monitors that display intraoral images or CAESY educational videos, allow our team to work efficiently and effectively. You’ll enjoy the peace of mind our technologically advanced treatment rooms offer.

Thoughtful Extras – In addition to rooms scented with pleasing aromas to relax and calm patients, we also offer DVD players with NatureScape relaxation videos or movies. Bottled water, cookies, and other treats are available to help you feel welcomed and comfortable at our facilities.
