Meet Our Dentists
Dr. James Hill
Dr. Hill was born and raised in Madison. After graduating from Madison West High School, he studied philosophy and theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Not suited for the priesthood, Dr. Hill decided to enter the dental field upon receiving his undergraduate degree. He attended the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota where he earned his doctorate of dental surgery in 1977. Dr. Hill established a private practice in Madison and became a consultant to the State of Wisconsin on treating children in institutionalized settings.
In keeping with the practice’s philosophy, Dr. Hill has pursued a great deal of continuing education in the areas of reconstruction of complex cases, TMJ disorder and implants and is a Fellow of the American Dental Implant Association. He also holds a master's degree in administrative medicine and a fellowship at the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Hill serves on the Board of Trustees for Madison Country Day School, the Board of Vilas Zoo, and on the Board of Evergreen State Bank and Stoughton Investments of Nevada.
Dr. Amy Sergeant
Dr. Sergeant grew up in Iowa and graduated with distinction from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. She then completed an internship, combined with graduate studies in nutrition, at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics. After practicing as a Registered Dietitian at the University of Iowa, Hospitals and Clinics for four years, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry and attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
Upon graduation, Dr. Sergeant completed a general practice residency at the University of Iowa, Hospitals and Clinics and the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. Her residency focused on treating hospital patients, medically compromised patients, those with special needs, and pediatric and adult dental emergencies. She has been in practice since 2001. Dr. Sergeant practices at our Madison and Cottage Grove offices and is a Delta Dental provider.
Dr. Edwin Batchelor
Dr. Batchelor brings a wealth of experience with him, including his education at the Air Force Academy and the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry. After receiving his doctorate of dental surgery, Dr. Batchelor attended a two year, hospital-based residency in general practice and periodontics/implants at the National Naval Dental Center at Bethesda, Maryland. There, he served patients from the naval armed services, U.S. Cabinet, and Congress. Dr. Batchelor is certified in oral conscious sedation and provides comprehensive care for those who are unable to tolerate dental procedures with simple local anesthesia. He has been in practice for 20 years and is on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Academy of General Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American Dental Implant Association. He practices at our Madison and Cottage Grove offices and is a Delta Dental provider.
Dr. Grace Yang
Dr. Yang joins us after years of private practice in Massachusetts. Born and raised in Florida, she attended the University of Florida on a full Academic and National Merit Scholarship. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Zoology she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Since graduating, Dr. Yang’s focus has been on delivering the highest level of care to her patients by learning and training with the latest technologies dentistry has to offer. Dr. Yang's warm personality and proficiency in all aspects of family dentistry including crowns, bridges, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics and orthodontic treatment with Invisalign, allows her to assist you with all of your dental needs. Grace has also been a contributing editor for numerous journals and publications including Mosby’s Review for the National Dental Board Exam, Part 1. Dr. Yang is a Delta Dental provider.
When not practicing dentistry, you may find Dr. Yang enjoying the tastes of the season at the Farmers' Market or on the lawn of the state capital taking in the sounds of Concerts on the Square.
